SCHOLARSHIP UPDATES REPORT AS UPDATED IN JUNE 2020

Chamwino Arts Center in collaborations with Chamwino Connect USA have been supporting the community access to education through giving Scholarship opportunity to students at different levels of education since 2009. The following are the updates of the students who received scholarships from 2009 up to date. The report share the updates from the students who have completed their scholarships and the students who are still receiving scholarships.

TEKLA MLANGU

Tekla is 29 years old now. She was supported by Chamwino Connect for 4 years, from 2009 when she started her O- Level education to 2012 when she was ending her O- Level studies. After finishing her O- level studies, Tekla went to join Future World Institute for 9 month to study Hotel Management, and then got temporary jobs at different hotels and restaurants.


Currently Tekla is working at one of the street restaurants in Dar Es Salaam city wishing to open her own restaurant in the future.

HAWA LENJILA

Hawa is 28 years old now. She was supported by Chamwino Connect for 4 years of her secondary school education from 2009 to 2012. Hawa went to study Social work at International Institute of Development and Management after completing her secondary school studies then joining one of the national army groups .

Hawa is now serving the national army working with naval force

MARIAM MASAKA

She was also known as Maria. Mariam was the first born among the two daughters of Mussa and Merry Masaka. Mariam got sponsorship by Chamwino Connect for 4 years of her Secondary School education from 2011 to 2014.  The same year 2014 Chamwino Connect received a very shocking and sad news from Mariam’s family that Mariam passed away. May her soul rest in eternal piece.

ROZA HARUNI ROBERT

Roza was born in 1995. Roza got support from Chamwino Connect for 4 years during her Ordinary Level of education from 2011 – 2014. In 2015 Roza went to study Medical Attendant at St. Gabriel College in Dodoma region then being able to work in different pharmacies and health institution as a Pharmacist and a secretary , Roza has been working  in different hospitals as a Nurse too.

Currently Rose is working in one pharmacy in a village called Membe found in Dodoma region wishing to have her own pharmacy in the future.

IMANI MATONYA

Known as a long time volunteer at Chamwino Connect and Chamwino Arts Centre. Imani has been sponsored by Chamwino Connect for 10 years from 2009 when he was starting his Diploma in Education at Tabora Teacher’s college to 2011 when he was completing his Diploma studies. February 2012 Imani was employed with the government to work as a teacher at Sagala Secondary School in Dodoma region the same time he applying for different universities for a Bachelor. October 2012 Imani went back to school with the agreement of coming back to teaching during his holidays where he took a bachelor in Marketing ( BBA in Marketing ) taking him to 2015. Year 2016 to 2018 Imani got his Masters in Business Administration (MBA). Imani has been able to work as a Secondary School teacher for six years and four months, Business officer in Kongwa district for nine month

. from April this year Imani was promoted to work as a Market manager at kibaigwa international cereal market where he is working till now.

KANON MTEWA

Kanon Mtewa started to get his scholarship from 2014 taking 4 years PhD studies in the faculty of Education at University of dar es salaam. For now he is finishing his PhD thesis

REHEMA MTEMBWE

Rehema is 22 years old. Rehema is the third child among six children of Pastor Leonard Mtembwe and wife. Chamwino Connect supported Rehema Mtembwe in her two years of Advanced Level education (January 2017 –  May 2018). Rehema Mtembwe did a very good job in her studies as she scored Division one of nine points (Division one starts with 7 – 9 points).

            Rehema is curently in her second year at the university of Dodoma ( UDOM ) taking a 3 years bachelor of Education in special needs.

CHIPEGWA MASIMA

She is Chipegwa, 24 years old. She is a dis-abled girl. She is the second born among the four children of Mama Chipegwa. Chipegwa lives with her mother and her siblings as their father passed away years ago. After completing her primary school at Mkapa primary school, Chipegwa asked if she can be supported to take a 1 year computer class as it was one of her dreams. Chamwino connect supported Chipegwa’s tution fees and all costs during her 1 year of taking her computer classes 2013/2014.

Chipegwa is home now living with her mother and some of her siblings.

LINA CHIBADA

She is Lina, she is 15 years old. Lina got her scholarship in when she was in standard three at Mkapa primary school. Lina finished her primary school education in 2018 and score grade B which allowed her to continue with secondary education.

Currently Lina is in form two studying at Chamwino Secondary School .

            KEDMON MIYEU

He is Kedmon Miyeu, born in 1995, a third born child among four children of Emanuel Miyeu and Emmy Sugaje, one of the longest scholarship students of  Chamwino Connect. Kedmon started to be sponsored in 2011 when he was starting his ordinary level of secondary school education at Ifunda Technical School. Still with Chamwino Connect, after completing his Ordinary level at 2014, the following years 2015 to 2017 Kedmon took advanced level of secondary school at Msamala Secondary School. In 2017 Kedmon joined the Institute of Finance Management for the Diploma in Banking and Finance and complete his diploma studies in July 2019 scoring the GPA of 3.7 ( Upper Second )  .

From August 2019 Kedmon started volunteering at Chamwino Arts Center and January 2020 he was promoted to work as an accountant officer where he is working until now.

SIKUDHANI SIMBA

She is Sikudhani, born in 1995, She is the third born among the six children of Mr. and Mrs. Reng’ais Mayai, the farmers. Sikudhan strarted to be sponsored in 2011 when she started her Ordinary level of secondary school at Chamwino Secondary School. 2015 Sikudhani applied for a collage and she was chosen to take three years of nursing diploma at Mwambani School of Nursing. With some health challenges, Sikudhani had to stop her studies and go back home to be taken care by her family as suggested by the collage principal. 2016 Sikudhani applied for a closer collage called Mvumi Institute of Health Science and she was chosen to take two years certificate and one year diploma in nursing from May 2016 to 2019.

Currently Sikudhani is temporary working as a nurse at Puma hospital in Singida region

STELLA CHIBADA

She is Stella, 18 years old. Stella is a first born among the two children of the late single mother, Sarah Chibada. Stella’s sister name is Lina Chibada who has also been sponsored by Chamwino Connect during her primary school education. Stella and Lina live with their grandparents as their mother passed away when they were still young. Stella started to be sponsored by Chamwino Connect in 2014 when she was at the last year of primary school education at Mkapa Primary School. Stella was chosen to join Chamwino Secondary School for her four years of ordinary level of education and complete her secondary school studies in 2019 . Stella scored division three of 24 points.

Stella is now pursuing her high school studies at Mpanda Girls High School

EVA MAKOBE

She is Eva Makobe, she was born in 2002 as the second born among the five kids of Juma and Lucy Makobe. Both her parents are peasants. Eva completed her primary school education at Kambarage primary school in 2015 and come out as best performer in the primary school education final examination. Chamwino Connect started funding Eva with her school and private expenses in 2016 when she was starting her four years of ordinary level in secondary school at Tumaini Secondary School in Singida region. Eva completed her Ordinary level of education in 2019 and score division one of 15 point.

She is now pursuing her high school studies at Ruvu Girls High School

CURRENT SCHOLARSHIPS

            Chamwino Connect keeps supporting lifelong education up until now. The following are the current students who are under scholarship with Chamwino connect managed by Chamwino arts Center;

ZEPHANIA MAYAU

He is zephania Mayau, born in 9 february of 2004. Zephania is the last born among the children of Mr and Mrs George Mayau. Zephania lives with his father , mother and his siblings depending on their father’s income coming from peasants activities. Zephania’s performance in education has been amazing so far as one of the reason he became one of the students to get scholarship from chamwino connect. Zephania was the best performing student among all students who sat for the final primary school national examination at Chamwino primary school . Chamwino connect started supporting his studies in January 2018 when he started his secondary school education, Zephania is in form three now and he has been the best male performer and the best class performer from form one to now.

Zephania is still having a dream of being Petroleum engineer in the future.

NEEMA KOLOKOLONI

She is Neema, 15 years old. Neema is the second born among the 3 children of Mr and Mrs Juma Kolokoloni.  Neema’s dad is a mason and her mom is a peasant. Neema and her siblings lives with her father now as their parents are currently divorced. Neema was the best performing student at Kambarage primary school during their last primary school national examination. Neema started to get sponsored by chamwino connect in January 2018 for her secondary school education. Neema is now in form three, her favorite subject is Chemistry and Biology. Apart from her favorite subject Neema has been performing well in other subjects too.

Neema’s dreams is to become a heart specialist in the future.

EZELEDA LWANJI

She is Ezeleda Lwanji, she is 15 years old, a fifth born among the six children of Lucas and Joyna Lwanji . Ezeleda’s parents are both peasants. In their final primary school education ,2017 Ezeleda was the best performing student in her school, Mkapa primary school and chosen to join Chamwino Secondary School for her Ordinary level of education. Ezeleda’s favorite subject is Chemistry . Ezeleda has been performing well with an average of B.

Ezeleda have a dream to be a surgeon doctor in the future.

JACKLINE ULANGA

She is Jackline , born in 4th of January 2004, the last born among the five kids of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Ulanga. Chamwino connect started to sponsor Jackline in january 2018 for her secondary school education at St. Francis of Assis Girls Secondary School in Dodoma region. Her favorite subject in school is Chemistry. Jackline has is currently performing well with an average of B

Jackline wishes to be a soldier one day.

All students are very grateful for how Chamwino Connect and CAC supports them and for the positive impact that Chamwino Connect and CAC bring to the community. Praying that God will keep blessing everyone who in one way or another is part of what Chamwino Connect and CAC .

Education system in Tanzania

Option number 1

  • Kindergarten – Depends
  • Primary school education ( standard I – standard VII ) – 7 YEARS
  • Secondary school education, Ordinary Level of secondary education ( Form I – Form IV) – 4 YEARS
  • High school education , Advanced level of secondary education (Form V – Form VI) – 2 YEARS
  • University education (Bachelor degree) – 3 YEARS
  • Postgraduates ranging from 3-5 YEARS
